Cassina Rizzardi, October 17^th 2024 – It was a very long day of golf under difficult weather conditions with on-and-off heavy rain showers and winds for the 47 players competing at the 2024 Alps Tour Grand Final Presented by DEPOT – The Male Tools & Co.. After play was suspended during yesterday’s 1^st round at 1:28 p.m. local time due to heavy rains and unplayable course conditions, the Tournament Director, Mr. Alessandro Pia, decided at 4:15 p.m. to suspend play for the remainder of the day due to the continuous unplayable conditions.

Play was scheduled to resume this morning at 8:30 a.m. however, due to the overnight rain and current conditions, the new starting time was set to 9:30 a.m. local time. Once Round 1 was completed, Italy’s Marco Florioli and Netherland’s Vince Van Veen were in a 2-way tie for the lead with a first-round score of 2 under-par, 70.

However, due to continuous heavy rain showers, the tournament had to be suspended again at 2:36 p.m. local time due to unplayable course conditions. At 5:15 p.m., the Tournament Director, Alessandro Pia, announced that Round 2 would resume at 5:40 p.m. local time. Once play resumed, players could compete with little to no rain. At 6:34 p.m. local time, play had to be suspended due to darkness. A total of 22 mm had fallen throughout today over GC Monticello once play was stopped.

The second round of the 2024 Alps Tour Grand Final Presented by DEPOT – The Male Tools & Co. will resume tomorrow, October 18^th, at 8:30 a.m. local time.

The 47 players in the field are competing for a prize fund of €50,000 and 60,000 points. The winner of the 2024 Alps Tour Grand Final Presented by DEPOT- The Male Tools & Co. will earn a check of €10,000 and 9,500 Order of Merit points.

This is the 2024 season-ending tournament where the top 5 players in the Order of Merit rank at the end of this week’s tournament will earn a Challenge Tour, category 12b card for the 2025 season.
