We head to Spain for the 8th event of the season
Roquetas de Mar, May 27th, 2024 – After competing in Egypt, Tunisia, Italy, Austria and last week in France, the Alps Tour players move to Spain to compete in the eighth event of the 2024 season, a new tournament to our schedule, the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar. Playa Serena Golf, in Roquetas de Mar, Spain, will play host this week as this will be the first stop for the Alps Tour this season in Spain.
The 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar Tour Scramble Pro-Am will be held on Tuesday, 28th May, with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
The Field
Six of this season’s seven winners will be present among the players competing in this week’s new event, the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar title: France’s Aymeric Laussot, winner of the 2024 Ein Bay Open and currently 2nd in the Order of Merit rank, Spain’s Jose Antonio Sintes Navarro (am), winner of the 2024 Red Sea Little Venice Open and currently 7th in the Order of Merit rank, the winner of the 2024 New Giza Open and current leader of the Order of Merit rank, Italy’s Edoardo R Lipparelli, Italy’s Gianmaria Rean Trinchero winner of the 2024 Tunisian Alps Open and currently stands 5th in the rankings, the winner of the 2024 Memorial Giorgio Bordoni presented by AON Italy’sMattia Comotti who currently is 6th in the standings and the winner of the 2024 Gösser Open, Austria’s Maximilian Steinlechner who is 9th in the Order of Merit standings.
In the field, Enrico Di Nitto from Italy will also be present. He is third in the Order of Merit rank alongside France’s Benjamin Kedochim, who is fourth; Luca Galliano from Switzerland, who is eighth; and England’s Harry Goddard, who is tenth.
Alongside this season’s previous winners and the top-ranked players in the Order of Merit, there will be France’s Augustin Holé, Italy’s Manfredi Manica, and Spain’s Jose Manuel Pardo Benitez who all won on the Alps Tour during the 2023 season.
This week, 18 countries worldwide are represented in the approximate 140-player field, including Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, England, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, United States of America, and Venezuela.
The players will compete for an overall prize fund of €40,000 and 45,000 Order of Merit points. The Winner of the 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar will walk away with €5,800.00 and 6,525 Order of Merit points.
The 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar will be a 54-hole stroke-play event where a cut will be made after 36 holes. In case of a tie after 54 holes, a sudden-death play-off will determine the winner.
The Course
The 2024 Alps de Roquetas de Mar will be played at Playa Serena Golf in Roquetas de Mar, Spain, designed by Peter Allis and Ángel Gallardo.
The course is characterized by wide fairways, nine lakes, and greens protected by carefully placed bunkers. Rated as the flattest course in Spain, it is comfortable. The main difficulty lies in the long holes and the design of the greens. In the rough and garden areas, you can find pines, eucalyptus, palm trees, olive trees, oleanders, and bougainvillea.
The players competing this week will play the course set up as a 6226 meters, Par 72 course.
